Overview

The Direct Support Professional position works with individuals with disabilities in one of our residential program sites located throughout the Minnesota Iron Range communities, from Grand Rapids to Embarrass. Direct Support Professionals provide care and supervision to our clients by assisting them with daily living skills & personal cares, promoting community involvement and helping with household chores such as cooking and cleaning. This position offers a team environment while working assigned shifts with other direct support staff.

Enhanced Services positions will have the opportunity to work at an enhanced services program location with an applied rate exception from the Minnesota Department of Human Services. NHS Northstar requests rate exceptions to provide enhanced staffing support for specific individuals. Enhanced services pay rates are applied to time worked in the designated program location. Non-enhanced service work is compensated at an employee’s standard base rate. Enhanced services pay rates will no longer apply if a DHS rate exception is discontinued for any reason.

Float positions will work at multiple program site locations, as assigned. Schedules are published one week in advance and are subject to change. Locations and shifts may be adjusted based on service needs. Individuals must be willing and able to work at all locations. *Drivers license is required and must meet the driving requirements and criteria acceptable to NHS Northstar’s insurance carrier.

*New employee starting bonuses to be paid after 90 days of employment:

  • Full-time positions: $250.00
  • Part-time positions: $125.00

Base starting pay:

  • $16.50/hour- Standard base rate
  • $18.00/hour- Enhanced Services location rate (Tier 2)
  • $18.00/hour- Float positions

Qualifications

Experience/Education/Training

  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred

Regulatory Requirements/Licensure

  • Valid Driver’s License preferred
  • Department of Human Services Background Check
