NHS-Northstar was founded in 1988 by John Briski, Tim Larson, Tom Ruper, and Sheldon Schneider with the purpose of helping the developmentally disabled population live in a community-based setting while still having the supports necessary to thrive.
Over the past 30 years, our agency has continued to grow and expand. Today, we are company of 300 employees, operating 27 residential facilities, providing in-home supports to 100 community clients, and assisting 75 clients through ARMHS services. We have become a leader in the use of advanced technology to complement the compassionate care for which we are known.
In 2017, NHS Northstar formed an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) which transferred 100% ownership of the company for the benefit of current and future employees. This encourages employees to identify practices that will elevate client care, promote employee involvement as well as benefit company performance.
While our business has grown and changed over the years, our personal care and commitment to our consumers hasn’t – we are the stewards of our consumer’s trust and we take that trust seriously.
