Kelly is an amazing boss. She is always looking for ways to improve the client’s quality of life and helps the client in becoming more self-sufficient. She is patient, kind, generous, and always optimistic towards both the client and staff. As a supervisor, she does her best to accommodate staffs’ needs that are within her control. When working with Kelly, you know the client and yourself are going to have a great shift!
She listens to staff. She respects the client. She has worked so many hours, comes in early and even stays late to make sure everyone, clients and staff, are ok. She does everything in her power to give us the tools we need to do what we do. She is an amazing boss. I could not be more grateful to have her here with us.

What motivates you to do your best work every day?
Seeing the difference I can make in the lives of the people we serve. Watching our people thrive is such an amazing feeling.
What do you love most about working with the individuals you support?
The connections I make with them allows me to see so much of their personalities. The people I serve have been jokers, serious, playful, and caring. Not everyone gets to see all sides of a person the way a DSP does.
What is one skill or quality you have developed in your role that you are most proud of?
I’ve had many great mentors over the years that have taught me to be a good leader and a great coworker. It is important to lead by example, every day.
What is something you do outside of work that you are passionate about?
I love kayaking and camping. Any opportunity to be in nature is where you can find me!
What is one piece of advice you would give to someone looking to grow in their role or career at NHS Northstar?
Never forget to leave your troubles at the door. Our people can feel our vibes. Walking through the door is a fresh start, even if for only 8 hours. We are here for the clients. The paycheck should be the bonus.
