Overview

NHS-Northstar provides services to persons eligible for the medical assistance waiver program (MR/RC, CADI, TBI). Services are currently provided in small group settings (1-4 individuals) utilizing the foster care model; services are provided to children and adults living in the family home via our In-Home Family-Support program. Additionally, NHS-Northstar is licensed to provide Adult Rehabilitation Mental Health Services.

NHS-Northstar currently provides programs and supports to 115 individuals and employs over 285 professionals and paraprofessionals. Our programs are located in Northeastern Minnesota from Bovey on the west to Aurora on the east. Agency positions range from entry-level Direct Care Specialists to Program Managers and QMRP.

NHS-Northstar works closely with county social services staff, families, guardians, and clients to develop an individualized program plan. All referrals to our program are through case management at the local county social services department.

NHS-Northstar is licensed through the Minnesota Deptartment of Human Services, St. Louis and Itasca County Social Services Department.

NHS-Northstar creates individual programs to address specific needs in one or more of the following: communications, motor skills, activities of daily living, and behavior management.
