Ann was nominated by her Program Coordinator, Krista Stafsholt. Krista shared that Ann pays attention to the personalities and wishes of her clients, providing everything from small craft projects such as “pour painting” to a large project requiring several people and many days to turn the whole living room in to a gingerbread house for Christmas.
Ann has planned group vacations and birthday parties. She works with the clients to select themes and has hosted tea parties, a carnival, and a haunted house. Ann’s holiday parties are popular and have been attended by many individuals and staff across NHS Northstar.
Ann is a fun staff to work with, but also competent, knowledgeable, and dedicated. She is the kind of staff that I hope all of you get to work with too!

What motivates you to do your best work every day?
The individuals I support, my staff, and honoring my foster mother’s memory. She was an LPN for a company like NHS Northstar, and she was my very first charge nurse. She taught me to be the caregiver I am today.
What do you love most about working with the individuals you support?
You are not only a caregiver, but a student as well. You are always learning new things on a daily basis.
What is one skill or quality you have developed in your role that you are most proud of?
I have grown and learned so much from the individuals, staff, and the positive role models who have supported me to get where I am today.
What is something you do outside of work that you are passionate about?
I am a grandmother of three, soon to be four, beautiful children. I enjoy the time I get to spend with them and my family whenever I can. And fishing!
What is one piece of advice you would give to someone looking to grow in their role or career at NHS Northstar?
We are here to help the individuals with their journey though life. It is about the quality, not the quantity. Never forget to learn from them as well, they have a lot to teach us.
