. . . .We have benefited from services provided by NHS for more than ten years. Our daughter has developmental disabilities, and is a young vulnerable adult living at home.

When we began her program, she was shy, passive and withdrawn. Today, she is happy and assertive though her vulnerability continues. NHS staff has taught her a multitude of independent living skills. Because of the sensitive, responsible staff provided by NHS, she is able to be in the community. She even works on a volunteer basis. This greatly enhances her self-esteem. Staff provides supervision, while allowing for as much independence as possible.

There comes a time in every young person's life, when he or she just gets tired of mom's or dad's teaching. That's where NHS came in for us. We've all enjoyed the growth that followed.

As an agency, NHS has been an excellent resource, listening and responding when needed. They've attended every meeting and workshop pertaining to our daughter's program. They've assured clear goals and consistency in implementing them. The success and growth our daughter enjoys bears this out. . . .

. . . . Northern Habilitative Services has provided In-Home-Family-Support services for my daughter for many years. This level of support has enabled our family to function more typically. With the assistance of NHS staff, she is able to participate with peers and it is more natural than having a parent or family member with her. NHS staff has been sensitive and respectful to our family priorities and preferences. Planning has been "person centered" and it has changed to meet her needs as she grew up. NHS is a great organization to work with. We are fortunate to have this resource. . . .
